A Saunter Through The Cold

The Oriental Dragon writhed its way down the Hodges Street waterfront on New Years’ Eve.

The dragon’s was not the only breath visible in the cold night air. Temps were near freezing, but still, several hundred people braved the chill to touch the dragon for good luck.

Leading the way, Mike Vardy with cymbals. Many others joined in the noisy greeting.

In the long-standing town tradition, some people rang the old year out, literally. They clanged bells, cymbals, drums and whatever they could find in the kitchen to urge the dragon along.

One spoon at a time.
