A very familiar landmark came down Monday. For more than four decades, Bob and Claire Pittman’s house looked out upon the Neuse from a perch next to the Town Beach. The home was the sum of many parts. The first of those parts went up in the early 1960’s; it was the A-frame that became known to boats passing in Whittaker Creek channel. A few minutes after this photo was taken Monday, the A-frame was gone, and within an hour the rest of the house was leveled. Bob Pittman says a new home will be built in the same place.
