At the Town Dock Friday was Sandpiper, a 35-foot ferro-cement, skipjack-inspired, (with a tip of the hat to Olin Stephens) ketch. Rupert Allan says he spent the better part of the past decade restoring her and cruised in the Caribbean this year. The port of call, Ynyslas, is in Wales. Allan returns to the UK soon, after sailing Sandpiper to Baltimore where, he says, he hopes she’ll find a new owner.
