| An Information / Orientation Session for prospective volunteers will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 @ 2:00 PM at HeartWorks, 709 Main Street, Bayboro. Join us to learn about the program and take a tour of the facility. Volunteers are needed to help in the classrooms, tutor children individually or provide enrichment activities such as Chess, Yoga, Basketball, Drumming, etc..
Over 120 K- 8th grade students attend the free 21st Century Community Learning Center Afterschool Program at HeartWorks. Join us to learn how you can make a positive difference in the academic, emotional and physical health of Pamlico County children. A weekly commitment is NOT required. The meeting will be held in the room at the front of the building. Enter the door directly under the exterior staircase. Unable to attend on August 13th, but wish to volunteer? The ideal candidate must demonstrate sound decision-making and mature life-skills and will enjoy interacting with people. The companion will enjoy or at least amiably tolerate outdoor environments and dogs. Health care industry certifications and a driver license with a clean record are desirable. This position is part-time, primarily mid-morning to early afternoon. Flexibility to work some weekends and fill gaps as needed is also desirable. References will be requested.
