Pull up a chair… it’s a friendly bar. If you bar hop in Oriental there are a few choices. Sitting at the Toucan Grill Bar arguably has the best view. The Tiki Bar is the classic place for a summer beer. Some bars are in buildings with history… the Steamer Bar is in what was a hardware store years ago… the River Neuse Club bar is from the fondly remembered Trawl Door restaurant. The newest bar in town is at The Silos… a new “building” (two silos) that feels like it has been there forever.

While Laura has been spotted at a few of the above options, she and her drawing supplies do wander over to M&M’s Cafe.

Laura says she just drinks tea at the bar (some publishers prefer a Newcastle or an Irish whisky). Laura (and hubby Gil) are known to visit M&M’s during the restaurant’s quieter hours. Laura’s drawing pencil captures the bar waiting for visitors:
