Hinman Art Class Reception, 2009
A Week's Work On Display For A Night
August 20, 2009

C
huck and Jan Hinman spend their summers in Oriental, away from the bustle of lower Manhattan where they live the rest of the year.

There was, however, a flurry of activity at the Hinmans’ South Avenue home last week. Chuck, who is an artist, was holding a week-long art workshop, as he does just about every summer.

Art was on display on the porch of the Hinman’s home. These were by Beverly Turner. There was more by other artists from the class, inside.. .

As has become tradition, that week of classes was capped with a reception on Saturday night and the students’ work was shown on the ground floor of the Hinman’s South Avenue home.

It was a one-night only exhibition, but these photos from the evening may extend the run a bit…

Jay Bew surveys some of the work by his grandfather, Robert Jones, who took part in the classes.

After a week of providing classes, Chuck Hinman was providing refreshments at Saturday night’s reception.
Each artist staked out a work space during the week. This was Julie Gaines’.
A fan for the arts, especially needed for early evening receptions in August….
