Hole-In-One At Minnesott On A 325 Yard Hole
20 year old Kyle Dembart Sinks It On Par 4 #18
October 13, 2015

J
ack Nicklaus never made this shot. Neither did Tiger Woods. But on Saturday at Minnesott Golf & Country Club – Kyle Dembart did. A hole in one on a 325 yard par 4 hole – the 18th hole. A hole that slopes uphill.

Kyle Dembart
20 year old Kyle Dembart, playing with his father Gary Dembart and his girlfriend’s father, Allen Propst, recorded the hole-in-one under wet conditions from the rain over the past three weeks. A double-eagle on a par 4, perhaps the rarest shot in golf.

Kyle says he got a little help from a 15mph northeast wind. Dembart used a Titleist Driver and a #1 Pro V1 Titleist golf ball.

Where’s The Ball?
After Kyle launched his big drive, both Gary and Allen commented that it looked as if he had a chance to make the green.

However, at that distance neither of the players were certain if it did. From 325 yards you can’t see the ball. After both Gary and Allen made their second shots, all players began questioning where Kyle’s ball was. It was not visible on the green. In the sand trap? Gary and Kyle checked the bunker protecting the left-front of the green. It wasn’t there. Allen suggested that the ball could have rolled over the back of the green and he started to look there… when Kyle suddenly approached the hole and started laughing. Propst approached the flag and verified that Kyle’s ball was indeed in the bottom of the cup.

Do pro golfers ever pull this off? There has only been one hole-in-one on a par 4 in the history of the PGA Tour. In 2001, Andrew Magee was playing at TPC Scottsdale when he recorded a hole-in-one on the 332 yard #17 hole.

Kyle Dembart, from New Bern, is a junior at Davidson College majoring in Biology. He is a 1 handicap – he won the Club Championship at Minnesott Golf & Country Club in September. He was home from fall break at Davidson and played Saturday and Sunday, recording a 69 Saturday and a 66 on Sunday.

Kyle says he loves to play golf – but has no aspirations to play either on his college team or pursue golf at a higher level.
