2024 Pet Parade
A pirate ship, a pun, and an impersonation

ifty seven dogs, most in costume. And just over $1,800 raised for the Pamlico Animal Welfare Society.

This year the PAWS Annual Pet Parade coincided with Easter weekend. So organizers adapted, and set out treat-filled Easter eggs for the pets.

What happens when you have a parade at 11a, but have to film a hair commercial at noon.

The bribe judge worked the crowd, willing to tilt the scales for a fee. She received over $600 for her efforts.

All proceeds help PAWS take care of dogs in need.

• Most Unusual: Ollie (human Jennifer Smart)
• Best Costume: Lillie (human Jean Jeanners)

There was also an Easter Egg hunt, with treat filled plastic eggs hidden along the parade route.

And while the dogs and humans hung out, those who wished to participate were invited to gather with Father Bruce Cheney for a group Blessing of the Animals.
