Afew scenes of Oriental hours before Irene’s arrival. These photos were taken in a brief weather break shortly before 7a. Extensive flooding has covered low lying streets in over 3 feet of water. Since the photos were taken, even higher winds, with gusts nearing 80 mph, have set in.Water street flooding: note mailboxThe village waterfront just after 8a.Light in a hurricane. The wind is directly on their bow. The harbor railing, which would normally be visible just in front of the vessel’s bows, is submerged.
