An Information/Orientation Session for prospective volunteers will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 @ 1:30 PM. at Heartworks 21st Century Community Learning Center, 709 Main Street, Bayboro. You will get a tour of the facility and learn about the free AfterSchool and Summer Programs that serve Kindergarten- 8th grade children. Volunteers are needed to read with children, tutor math, help in the classrooms and/or assist other volunteers with group enrichment activities such as Yoga, Chess, Basketball, Drumming, Book Club, etc.. (Believe it or not - the kids love all of those activities.) A weekly commitment is NOT required. Enter the building at the door under the exterior staircase of the big building. Don Lee Camp & Retreat Center seeks dedicated housekeeping staff to join our team on a part-time, seasonal basis - with the possibility of extending into the off-season. In this role, you'll collaborate with our Maintenance Coordinator to clean and maintain all cabins, bathrooms, bathhouses, and other key camp buildings. Your responsibilities may include (but are not limited to): sweeping, mopping, vacuuming; emptying trash; washing, drying, and folding linens; organizing; deep cleaning & "winterizing" buildings; pressure washing; leaf blowing; painting; and other cleaning or maintenance tasks as needed. Candidates must be able to pass a background check and drug screening. This position requires the physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and to remain on your feet throughout the day. Don Lee Camp & Retreat Center is affiliated with the North Carolina United Methodist Church. As a full-time camp and retreat center, we host summer camp for 9 weeks in the summer, fall and spring school field trips, and church retreats.
