The US Coast Guard Auxiliary teaches Boat America on Saturday, July 30, from 8a – 4p at Fairfield Harbor Community Center at 585 Broad Creek Rd, New Bern, NC 28560

Many insurance companies offer discounts on boat insurance for having completed this course.

Taught by certified instructors, course topics include: Before getting underway, Navigating the waterways, Operating your vessel safely, Legal requirements of boating, Handling boating emergencies.

This is a one-day basic boating safety course. The cost is $20 with $10 for an additional person sharing the same textbook. Fee includes textbook, certificate of completion, and a wallet card.

Persons born in 1988 or later must complete an approved boating education course before operating any vessel propelled by a motor of 10 HP or greater.
