Coming Events in Oriental and in and near Pamlico County
Pamlico Arts Council Meeting - Jun 22Arts Council Annual Membership Meeting June 22 at 6p, at the Old Theater. The public is welcome. The film Tim’s Vermeer (A Penn & Teller Film) shown after the brief business meeting.
From the council:
This is an urgent meeting – we need a leader and the executive committee is incomplete. If we can’t find people to step into these positions, we may be voting to dissolve the council instead of the regular business of confirming election of board members.
This is the only Arts Council in the state without any financial support from its county or municipality.
What the Arts Council does:
- Provide grants for the Pamlico Music Society
- The Old Theater receives grants for many of the special events they produce
- Ol’ Front Porch Music Festival receives money to underwrite the event
- The Children’s Theater Workshop gets an annual stipend from the Arts Council for their June/July programs
- Help with the high school band, provide an art scholarship for a deserving high school graduate, and underwrite outreach art programs in the public schools
- Held the 2018 (15th annual) Art on the Neuse Art and Music Festival, bringing artists, visitors, and musicians to Oriental.
This all happens with support of the Pamlico County Arts Council.
