New Village Brewery & Taproom marks its One Year Anniversary with the 1st Annual Oriental Lily Jubilee: a month-long celebration of NC craft beer, art, music, nature and feminine power. To kick off the 2018 Jubilee, the brewery is hosting a Plein Air “Artist on Location” Event in the Beer Garden.
Throughout the weekends of June 14-16 and 21–24, the Beer Garden is open to all artists to come and create original lily-inspired art en plein air with whatever medium they choose – oils, watercolor, ink, pencil, photography, pastels, etc.
Afterward, artists will be invited to exhibit their works in a pop-up art expo at the brewery for a 3-week period. Artists will also have the option to donate their original artworks for a silent auction to benefit Girls on the Run Pamlico.
The plein air art event is free and open to the public. For interested painters, a supply kit including acrylic paints and canvas is available for $20. Tables, chairs, table-top easels, brushes and water provided at no charge.
Contact Lili with any questions and to reserve a supply kit (if desired). No need to pre-register. All ages welcome. Email: thenewvillagebrewery@gmail.com Phone: 202-450-8585
In the last week of June 2017, just before The New Village Brewery’s opening day, a splendid Oriental Lily bloomed just beside the front doorsteps. That same week, local artist Marlene Miller gifted the brewery a painting of a lush Oriental Lily that hangs in the Brewery’s Taproom (at right in the image – click the image for a bigger view). The Oriental Lily has been such a good omen for the brewery that this year, the brewery planted 70 Oriental Lily bulbs in the beer garden.
