MV Diesel Duck | June 24, 2019

Visiting the Oriental Marina Inn docks Monday morning is MV Diesel Duck – a 41 ft aluminum trawler. Or is it a trawler? While primarily a motor vessel – it does have a sail rig too. There are many boats built to the Diesel Duck plans. Designed by west coast naval architect George Buehler… he calls the boats “long range, sail assisted Troller Yachts.”

Bruce Roberts 53 Hauled On Hwy 55 | June 19, 2019

It’s not a sight you see every day: a 53 ft sailboat crowding the highway. This was the scene Tuesday on Hwy 55 coming in to Oriental. Paul Welles of Triton Yachts hauled the steel hull boat from Custom Steel Boats in Merritt to the Triton boatyard in Oriental, with the help of a few state troopers.
