Pamlico Sail & Power Squadron offers America’s Boating Course February 24 and March 2, 9a – 4p.

Reduce your risk of accidents and injuries, save money on boat insurance, and qualify for NC State Boat Operator Certificate. Gain practical knowledge of rules of the road, handling emergencies and mechanical problems on the water, the basics of towing and trailering, important information for hunters, anglers and water sports enthusiasts, and more.

Topics include: Introduction & Boating Terms, Safety equipment – both required and recommended, Boating Law & Regulations -local & national, Knots & Lines, Rules of the Road, Aids to Navigation, Marine Radio, Trailering & Storing.

This is a one-day basic boating safety course. The cost is $35 with $10 for an additional person sharing the same textbook. Fee includes textbook, certificate of completion, and a wallet card.

Persons born in 1988 or later must complete an approved boating education course before operating any vessel propelled by a motor of 10 HP or greater.
