The Village Gallery welcomes June’s Artist of the Month, Debanjana Bhattacharjee.

Originally from Mumbai, India, Debanjana Bhattacharjee moved to Myrtle Beach, SC in 2015 from Texas. She has a post graduate diploma in Modern and Contemporary Indian Art History from Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, Mumbai.

A self-taught artist, Debanjana enjoys working with acrylics, oil and gouache. All three mediums help her with the different immediacy her subject calls for. An en plein aire painter, she works to capture those fleeting moments outdoors. Debanjana says her paintings are an instant reaction to the scene. She can be seen painting the sunrise in Myrtle Beach where she is based daily during the summer.

Early in 2023, Debanjana was juried into Oil Painters of America (OPA). Her painting, Love Letter, has been selected for the 45th Piccolo Spoleto Juried Art Exhibition 2023 and is currently on display at City Gallery, Charleston, SC.
