Coming Events in Oriental and in and near Pamlico County

Dragon Town @ Oriental History Museum

Oriental Museum’s special Exhibit ‘Dragon Town’ runs through July and features Oriental’s dragons and dragon events, as well as dragon lore. Oriental has been fascinated with dragons since the early 1960s when the first dragon appeared at the harbor to usher in the new year.

Children and adults of all ages are encouraged to enter our dragon hunt. While enjoying your visit to town roam the streets searching for dragons. You’ll find them painted on rocks and fences, hiding in ponds, and guarding homes and mailboxes. Entry blanks and details are available inside the museum and on our front porch. There are prizes for finding Oriental’s dragons, and a raffle later this summer for dragon items.

The gift shop is full of dragon articles for sale. Later this summer, visit the museum to “pet the Dragon” (details to come).

‘Dragon Town’ runs through the end of September, when the dragon hunt and the raffle will end. Oriental’s History Museum is at 802 Broad Street. Hours are: Friday 11-3 and Saturday 1-4. Admission is always free, donations gratefully accepted. For more information about the museum and this exhibit contact us: museum@dockline.net
