The John Jorgenson Quintet perform at the Old Theater Saturday, March 28 at 7:30p, presented by Pamlico Musical Society.
John Jorgenson, a longtime touring guitarist for Elton John, is a pioneer of the American gypsy jazz movement and renowned for his virtuosic technique and stylistic versatility. He leads the John Jorgenson Quintet, consisting of five musicians: John Jorgenson (acoustic guitar, bouzouki, clarinet, vocals), Casey Driscoll (jazz violin), Rory Hoffman (guitar/piano, accordion), Simon Planting (bass), and Rick Reed (percussion).
Celebrated for their dynamic performances blending soulful romance with lively celebration, the Quintet delivers a blend of traditional Gypsy swing, original compositions, and global influences.
