SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE TONIGHT
We The People Flotilla - Aug 16Those interested in supporting the constitution and saving democracy are invited to join the nonpartisan “We The People Flotilla,” August 16 from 11a-1p in Oriental’s harbor.
Joining by land: Be in place by 10:45a at the intersection of Broad and Hodges Street. Event goes until 1p. Register here to participate by land.
Joining by sea: Be in place by 10:45. MV Kindred Spirit serves the “Mothership” and will be anchored in the outer harbor. Sailboats, motorboats, kayaks, paddleboards and dinghies are all welcome. If you would like to borrow a kayak to participate on the water, please call Bill Hines at 252-571-0264.
Boats over 10 ft.: anchor/raft up in the outer harbor in between the end of the docks and the breakwater for maximum visibility. Smaller vessels can cruise around the inner and outer harbors. All vessels are requested to have relevant flags, banners, signs or decorations as big as possible. Keep in mind that if there is no wind, it will be hard to see what’s on your flag so you may want to fix it so they can.
