Four members of the Tourism Board resigned at a Town Board Special Meeting held Thursday, June 26. They write in explaining their decision.
To the Citizens of Oriental,We would like to clear up any questions you might have.
Our decision to resign from the Tourism Board was made after thoughtful consideration. While each of us has our own personal reasons, we share the belief that the Board is moving in a direction that no longer aligns with the vision we have worked to support over many years of service.
Collectively, we devoted countless hours to promoting Oriental, welcoming visitors, supporting local businesses, and highlighting the unique qualities that make our town a special destination. We are proud of what we accomplished and grateful for the opportunity to have served our community.
As the Board’s priorities and direction evolved, we felt it was appropriate to step aside and allow others to carry that vision forward. We believe this is the right decision for both ourselves and the Board.
We sincerely thank the Town, our fellow volunteers, and the many community partners who supported tourism efforts over the years. We wish the Tourism Board and the Town continued success in promoting Oriental and all that makes it a wonderful place to live, work, and visit.
