Oriental’s town board has five commissioners. The next election is this November.Jean White writes in that the time to file to become a candidate is near:
Monday, July 7 marks the start of Candidate Filing for those interested in adding their name to the ballot for Oriental Town Commissioner, which this time will be just a one-year term. (Deadline for filing is at NOON on Friday, July 18.)If you care about our town and its future, please consider becoming a candidate to replace our now dysfunctional Town Board with one that is neither contentious nor driven by personal agendas. We are a village of 900 citizens and deserve to have a Board that listens to citizens and works for the good of our community.
With a $5.00 (cash) filing fee, you can register Monday-Friday (8am to 5pm) for an Oriental Town Commissioner candidacy with Lisa Bennett, Board of Elections Director, at the Pamlico County Courthouse.
