The work of local artist Marguerite Chadwick-Juner can be seen throughout the county – on flyers for the Pamlico County Arts Council, as a mural on the front wall of the Grantsboro Walmart, and as the featured artist at The Village Gallery for the month of June.

But I can’t help it – I’m just interested in a lot of things. And I like to experiment and try different things.”

I’m trying to capture something that’s maybe not necessarily there… you’re never going to see those colors in Spanish moss in New Bern, but – yet – you feel like you do.”

It was inspired by artist Jason deCaires Taylor, a British artist who created life castings and set them at the bottom of the ocean to help encourage reef regrowth. Chadwick-Juner works to include more dynamic movement in her work, “mostly because it’s something [deCaires Taylor] can’t do.”
