Through it all, the dragon in the Duck Pond, acting as wind vane, kept pointing to the north and northeast. Meanwhile, all that wind pushed more water on to Hodges, in the foreground.

The water was covering more than the pavement. It flooded the yard of the Wits End. A banner there advertises the upcoming Pamlico Paddle which will not take place on Hodges Street.

Eric Kindle and Susan King carry Sue Henry’s paintings from the WIts End so they wouldn’t be threatened if water crept in to the gallery space.

Sandie Beale takes some more paintings to higher ground.
