Rain and Roadsters
The 2023 Oriental Classic Car ShowOctober 20, 2023
Vintage cars, wind and rain. They don’t always mix, especially when the cars are supposed to be in presentably perfect condition. The threat of bad weather kept many away, but the turnout was still impressive – around 50 cars arrived, ready to brave the rain.
Earle Barnard’s 1951 MG Midget TD is all about the curve appeal. It took home the Kid’s Choice Award. The rain, for its part, held off until about noon – long enough for a stroll through the rows, and a quick vote on Best in Show and Runner up.
With an eye to the skies, Rotary members started announcing the winners. And then held down the tents and registration papers as heavy winds arrived.
When the wind started up, Rotary members held it down – literally. With attendees running to escape the rain, the 2023 Oriental Classic Car Show was over about 20 after noon.
