Sylvia Jane (Williams) Wright, 81, of Oriental, NC passed away peacefully Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern, NC.

She was born December 14, 1942 in Winston-Salem, NC, the daughter of Paul and Sylvania (Smitherman) Williams. Sylvia was a graduate of Northwest High School Class of 1961.

She was united in marriage to Joe Wright on August 14, 1993. Together they shared nearly 31 years of marriage.

Prior to moving to Oriental, NC, she worked as a financial counselor at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC from 1980 to 1997. In Oriental, she worked as a sales associate at Village Hardware and the Oriental Marina & Inn from 2010 until her death.

Sylvia is survived by her husband; son Jeff (Elizabeth) Shore of Marion, IL; brother Jackie (Betsy) Williams of East Bend, NC; grandchildren Savannah (Steve) Windhorn Quinn and Jason Windhorn of Minneapolis, MN; grandchild Victoria Shore of Marion, IL; grandchild Benjamin Shore of Charlotte, NC; great-nephews Scott Williams and Evan Williams of East Bend, NC; step-sons Dean (Susan) Wright of Raleigh, NC, and Ricky (Anne) Wright of Columbia, SC; and step-daughter Wendy Rogers of Greensboro, NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Jeana Shore Windhorn, and son-in-law Douglas Windhorn of Lakeville, MN; and nephew Ken Williams of East Bend, NC.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the Oriental Marina & Inn/Toucan Grill & Tiki Bar in Oriental, NC. Time to be determined. Any and all family and friends are invited.
