O
riental’s Rotary Club is the driving force behind the Oriental In-Water Boat Show, one of the biggest and most successful small town boat shows between Annapolis and Savannah. This year, through sun and rain, the show hosted over 100 vendors, multiple brokers, and seminars on modern boat building and marine weather. With the proceeds from this show, the Rotary Club is able to fund several scholarships for Pamlico High School seniors. The numbers from this year’s event are not yet in, however last year the Rotary Club had $30,000 to fund 6 scholarships.

Rotary is currently taking applications for those scholarships. Interested students should contact their guidance counselors at Pamlico High School or Judge Jim Ragan at 252-249-1156 for details.

The other was by Mission Navigation, an organization that builds safe work boats for third-world Christian missions. The boat at this show is looking for volunteers to help complete the work before being sent off to Haiti.
