Behind the Silos on Highway 55, separated by the county line, is the Red Rooster stage and roadhouse bar. It’s where bands played this year’s Silospalooza, Oriental’s one-day music festival.Joe Brown & the Band played for the second year along with Saltwater Gold, Brant Island Strings, and Peace Soldier. Newcomers Dust Parade and Gary Dudley & The Maxxtones rounded out the list.
Joe Brown & The Band.Most participants in the pizza eating contest were on the younger side, with most under 16 and half under 10. 14-year old Jamie Durham of Bayboro won by eating a full pie (with knife and fork) in 3 minutes and 47 seconds.
Jamie Durham, pizza-eating winner.Heat kept the audience in the shade until late afternoon, but the evening bands got them on their feet and on the grass to dance.
