This visiting trawler at the town dock gets the best hailing port name this week. MV WyRow is from Penetanguishene, Ontario, Canada. Penetanguishene is on the Georgian Bay of Lake Huron. There will be a pronunciation test Monday.

“The Cottage” is the appropriate name of a visiting trawler at the Oriental Marina docks, part of the southbound fleet that makes its stop in Oriental.

Maleficient of the Witches' Crawl. | October 31, 2019

Over the weekend, the witches of Oriental crawled through town, dancing their way from one place to the next. Tonight is their Halloween encore performance of the Witches’ Dance at 209 Neuse St. (Cheryl Thompson’s house). The dance begins every half-hour beginning at 6p until 7:30.

Graham Byrnes designs boats. Every year, he invites owners of his boats to a ‘Messabout’, a weekend on the water at the B&B Yacht Designs workshop in Bayboro. There’s sailing and sometimes a casual race. Last weekend he sailed Carlita at the annual event. Click for the bigger pic and more.

Visiting sailing vessel Sea Bean. It’s not a coffee bean, it’s an oceangoing fruit (or seed). Sea beans ride the ocean currents, traveling thousands of miles from their home port. SV Sea Bean left Oriental Marina & Inn this morning.
