Instead of Football Regatta - Jan 1, 2021The 28th annual Instead of Football Regatta is January 1, 2021.
A sailing alternative to TV, and a loosely organized one at that, it’s become an Oriental New Year’s tradition. Sailors meet at noon 1:30p on Tuesday, Jan 1 at Oriental marker #1 (SC1). Warning horn is at 11:55a 1:25p.
Marks are: Adams Creek #1, Garbacon #7, finish at Oriental #1 (SC1). Sailing direction/course change announced on Channel 72 prior to start.
There is NO Mandatory Skipper’s Meeting after the race this year. Winners are chosen using the ‘Kindergarten Method’: Everyone is a winner for surviving 2020. Participants are encouraged to race with their household members and boats should remain socially distanced at all times.
