Once a year, the residents of Oriental raid their homes and put their treasures up for sale. Hundred year old bed frames are set in the yard alongside dusty dancing shoes. Grandparents point out indestructible metal Tonka trucks and tricycles and explain a few of those scars they earned as kids.On the first Saturday in May, it’s the Oriental Town-Wide Yard Sale.

Donna Creech shows off the tricycle collection at the Methodist Church’s yard sale. Several toy autos were for sale, available in plastic and late-century metal.Donated items are sold in item specific sales benefiting many of the non-profits operating in and around town.
Sales of donated fitness equipment benefitted the Parkinson’s exercise programs.Engine propelled items, like the Austrian-made Puch motorcycle and the domestically produced Snapper push-mower, were available for purchase.

Wizards and Cowboys to scratch your head or light up the night.Instruments, cameras, and home decor rested beside figurines and photo frames on the sales tables.
The savvy yard sale searcher could find a new hobby or indulge an old one.
