ou might have driven down Highway 55 through Merritt and seen renovations happening at the Trent Road intersection. That building, bought a few years ago, was overhauled during 2022. A new sign outside reads: Chubby’s BBQ.

Today is opening day.

Chef Boo cooks up Mississippi style BBQ. Guy Ray and his cousin Julie Trisciani are the business partners. Guy named the restaurant after his dad, Chubby Ray, a “man who loved to eat,” said Guy.

Welcome to Chubby’s.

Ribs, fried pies, and shrimp burgers.

While there’s ribs on the menu, you’ll also find shrimp burgers, chubby burgers, fried bologna sandwiches, homemade pork rinds, and hot peach pies. Click here to see the full menu.
