Endurance Seafood Benefit Concert raises $10k
From one fisherman to another
September 22, 2019

E
ndurance Seafood was devastated by Hurricane Florence in September 2018. Owner Keith Bruno spent the past year rebuilding and redesigning his family-run operation, preparing for the next storm.

Hurricane Dorian hit September 5, 2019, almost one year later. Though it did little damage to Oriental, it devastated another fishing business: The Ocracoke Working Waterman’s Association co-op fish house.

Knowing what those fishermen are facing, Bruno decided to help by throwing a benefit concert and pig roast. Here him tell it in his own words:

Keith Bruno talks about the benefit concert for the Ocracoke Working Waterman’s Association.

With the help of donations from the community including a pig from the Piggly Wiggly, sides from M&M’s, and Bluegrass music from Songs From The Road Band, the benefit concert fed over 250 people and raised more than $10,000.

Bruno said he was overwhelmed and humbled by the community effort.

Donations will be given directly to the Association to help with repairs to the building and getting Ocracoke’s fishermen back on the water.
