New Generator Installed at Town Hall
Emergency power by crane
June 7, 2019

own Hall received a new generator on Friday – by crane. The previous one died during Hurricane Florence.

It’s big. Sixty kilowatts. TownDock Senior Management thinks it might power part of town, but Town Manager Diane Miller says it will just run Town Hall:

Greg Bohmert had been repairing the previous generator for years, including machining new parts, while the town put money into a fund for its eventual replacement. Because it quit during last year’s hurricane, FEMA and the town’s insurance will pay for the replacement.

Bohmert removed the generator at no cost to the town. At the June 2019 Town Hall meeting, a resolution was passed to move the money in a generator replacement reserve fund, totaling $15,000, into the Public Works reserve fund. It will go towards purchasing a multi-terrain skid steer loader for the Public Works Department.
