Saturday morning was initially still and foggy. It had regatta organizers concerned about a light air day, but by race time the sun was out and the breeze had freshened. The 37 entrants in the 2009 Oriental Cup Regatta had perfect 10-15 mph winds around the course. The fastest time of the day belonged to Henry Frazer sailing an Etchells 22. Frazer, with crew Mike Craig and Mike Anderson, finished the course in 01:14:52. The next fastest boat in the Spinnaker Class finished 6 minutes behind (corrected time).
