Their Freemason Street home is already known as House With The Pink Roof. But in the word-of-mouth tours of Oriental, Jennifer and Roland Pare’s place may also come to be known as the House with the Painted Bricks.
Jennifer and Roland Pare as they were finishing up the brick-laying project last weekend.Jennifer and Roland spent last weekend laying the bricks which their friends painted at two parties in recent years.
Some of the painters opted for images, others for sayings.![]()
The original idea was to use them in a walkway behind the house. But their friends put so much effort and care in to the painting, Jennifer said, that she and Roland decided to showcase them out front.
Roland Pare surveys the work.Roland and Jennifer are planning another pathway leading from the walkway to the side of the house. That too, may have to-be-painted bricks.
The pink roof is now the backdrop for the vibrant walkway.Meanwhile, passersby who may have stopped to look up at the bright pink roof, may find themselves spending more time looking down to read the individual bricks.
